A NEW Schiff base LIGAND AND ITS COPPER(II) COMPLEX HAVE BEEN SYNTHESIZED BY THE REACTION OF THE NEW TETRADENTATE Schiff base LIGAND WITH COPPER(II) ACETATE IN 1:1 MOLAR RATIO. IN THIS COMPLEX, THE LIGAND WAS COORDINATED TO THE METALS VIA THE IMINE NITROGEN AND SULFUR ATOMS. THE COMPLEX HAVE BEEN FOUND TO POSSESS 1:1 METAL TO LIGAND STOICHIOMETRY AND THE MOLAR CONDUCTANCE DATA REVEALED THAT THE METAL COMPLEX WERE NON-ELECTROLYTE. THE Schiff base AND ITS COMPLEX HAVE BEEN CHARACTERIZED BY FT-IR, 1H NMR, UV/VIS, ELEMENTAL ANALYSIS AND CONDUCTOMETRY. ELECTROCHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF THE LIGAND AND ITS METAL COMPLEX WERE ALSO INVESTIGATED IN DMSO SOLVENT AT THE 100 MVS−1 SCAN RATE. COBALT Schiff base COMPLEXES HAVE BEEN STUDIED EXTENSIVELY. THEY ARE INVESTIGATED AS MODELS FOR THE COBALAMINE (B12) COENZYMES [1] CLASSIFIED AS AN OXYGEN CARRIER [2]. THEY APPLIED AS A CATALYST FOR THE PREPARATIVE OXYGENATION OF PHENOLS [3] AND AMINES [4]. COBALT (III) SALEN CATALYTIC ACTIVITY HAS BEEN INVESTIGATED. THE CATALYTICALLY ACTIVE SPECIES CONTAINS CO (III) OXIDATION STATE[5].COBALT (III) Schiff base COMPLEXES WITH FORMULA OF [COL(PR3)(OH2)]+ (WHERE L = TETRADENTATE N2O2 Schiff baseS) SHOW THAT THESE TYPES OF COMPLEXESARE IN EQUILIBRIUM WITH PHOSPHINES AND AMINES TO FORM [COL(PR3)2]+ AND [COL(PR3)(AMINE)]+ [6].THE [CO(NAPHEN)(PR3)(OH2)] CLO4 (WHERE NAPHEN = BIS(NAPHTHALDEHYDE)ETYLENEDIIMINE, R = BU AND PH) COMPLEXES WERE SYNTHESISZED IN METHANOL. THE SYNTHESIZED COMPOUNDS WERE CHARACTERIZED BY FT-IR, UV-VIS, 1H NMR SPECTROSCOPY AND ELEMENTAL ANALYSIS TECHNIQUES. THESE COMPLEXES WERE INCOPORATED INTO MONTMORILLONATE-K10 NANOCLAY. THE MODIFIED CLAY WAS IDENTIFIED BY FT-IR, XRD, TG/DTA, TECHNIQUES. ACCORDING TO THE XRD RESULTS OF THE NEW NANOHYBRID MATERIALS, THE Schiff base COMPLEXES ARE INTERCALATED IN THE INTERLAYER SPACES OF THE CLAY. TG/DTG RESULTS SHOW THAT THE INTERCALATION REACTION WAS TAKEN PLACE SUCCESSFULLY.

Organotin (IV) complexes with the general formulae R3ML [R: alkyl (Et, Ph and Bz), M: Sn and L: 1,3-bis (2-hydroxybenzylidene) thiourea were synthesized. The newly synthesized Schiff base and its complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, melting point, molecular weight determination, IR and NMR [1H, 13C and 119Sn] spectral methods. In the light of these techniques, a tetrahedral geometry around the tin atom is proposed for the synthesized complexes. The experimental data have been compared with those in the literature which were found to coincide very well with the assigned structures. The ligands and their tin (IV) complexes were screened in vitro for their antibacterial activities. It was found that they possessed significant antibacterial activity and the effect of Ph3SnL was possibly superior to those of Et3SnL, Bz3SnL and ligand. These findings add new insights onto the synthesis of antibacterial drugs as the synthesized compounds showed promising antimicrobial activity.

چکیده: 

Three Schiff bases, named (H2Ln), successfully synthesized by condensing different 3,5-dihalosalicylaldehyde (chloro, bromo, and iodo as haloatoms) with 2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-propanediamine. Furthermore, their transition metal complexes, denoted as (MLn), prepared by refluxing the Schiff bases with corresponding metal(II) acetate. To thoroughly analyze the synthesized compounds, various spectroscopic techniques such as: FT-IR and 1H NMR, along with analytical methods like CHN analysis employed.To assess their antibacterial activity in vitro, the compounds tested against two categories of bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus representing Gram-positive bacteria, and Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa representing Gram-negative bacteria. As reference antibacterial agents, Ampicillin and Erythromycin were used for comparison.

هدف: در این پژوهش مواد هیبرید جامد حاصل از کمپلکس باز شیف در داخل و روی سطح زئولیت NaY، تهیه شدند و سپس خاصیت ضد باکتری آن ها در برابر باکتری های مختلف (باکتری های گرم منفی و گرم مثبت) بررسی شد.مواد و روش ها: ابتدا ترکیبات با خاصیت ضد باکتری از طریق روش سنتز پی در پی تهیه شدند. به طوری که کمپلکس های باز شیف فلزات واسطه به دو روش یک بار از طریق روش کشتی درون بطری داخل حفرات زئولیت NaY و بار دیگر از طریق عامل-دار کردن که همان اصلاح سطح ترکیبات حفره دار می باشد، بر روی سطح زئولیت NaY بارگذاری شدند. در بخش دوم، فعالیت ضد باکتری ترکیبات سنتز شده در سطح آزمایشگاهی در مقابل باکتری های گرم مثبت (باسیلوس سابتلیس و استافیلوکوکوس اورئوس) و گرم منفی (اشریشیاکلی و سودوموناس آئروژینوزا) مورد بررسی قرار گرفت.نتایج: نتایج نشان داد که مواد هیبرید جامد حاصل از کمپلکس باز شیف و زئولیت NaY فعالیت ضد باکتری بسیار خوب (در برابر باکتری های گرم منفی اشریشیاکلی و سودوموناس آئروژینوزا) و قابل مقایسه ای با آنتی بیوتیک جنتامایسین و نالیدیکسیک اسید، به عنوان نمونه های استاندارد دارند. همچنین فعالیت ضد باکتری تا 24 ساعت همچنان ادامه داشت.نتیجه گیری: مواد هیبرید جامد حاصل از کمپلکس باز شیف و زئولیت NaY فعالیت ضد باکتری بسیار خوب و قابل مقایسه ای با داروهای استاندارد دارند. خصوصا این ترکیبات قابلیت چندین بار استفاده بدون اینکه خاصیت خود را از دست داده باشند را دارند و تهیه آن ها از نظر صنعتی مقرون به صرفه می باشد.

The present paper firstly announces the possibility of using a Schiff base as an acid-base indicator. This surprising phenomenon can be considered as an interest due to the fact that Schiff bases are usually unstable in solutions and definitely undergo hydrolysis. It was found that such a specific observation depends merely upon the chemical structure and type of the substitute of amine that reacts with aldehyde to give the Schiff base. The latter reagent 4[(4-dimethylamino-benzylidene)-amino]-benzene sulfonamide was synthesized from the condensation of sulfanilamide with p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde. The reagent solution shows a reproducible change in its color due to the addition of acid and base. A UV-Vis spectroscopic characterization and acid-base equilibrium study of the reagent for its possible use as an indicator were investigated. The results show that the reagent is an amphoteric which possesses four ionization constants Ka1, Ka2, Kb1 and Kb2 of weak dibasic and diacidic properties. The value of pKa2 (9.80) is parallel to the observed transition interval pH 9.5 (yellow) and pH 10.5 (colorless), which is considered to be the indicator exponents pKi. It was concluded that the benzyl sulfonamide group plays a key role in the stability of the reagent towards hydrolysis and also for indicator characteristics through breaking the conjugation.
